It's been a while my friends ... and I am truly sorry, BUT I have finished 3 projects. I only have photos of one at the moment but the other 2 will follow shortly I promise!

So the reason why it's been so long I'm sure you are all wondering why? NEW JOB!! Yeay!! I'm now working back in a Library which makes me happy again :)

And as for projects finished ... Firstly I finished the 1950's Cardigan, secondly I knitted a skirt from this Springs Interweave Knits and lastly I combined a combination of patterns together to make this boat neck cable jumper:

It looks better on, but nobody was a round to take a picture of me!! More photos of other projects soon.

Me and DB or should I say Darling Fiancee. Anyway, we had a small break to Stonehenge a couple of weeks ago, the weather was dreadful but we had a wonderful time, the B&B was really great too!! We've both been many time before but the area has got such a lot to see that we thought it was worth seeing again.

We took a trip to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu and saw this great Citreon 2CV, which was inspired by Piccaso!! My brother collect's 2CV's and if I had the chance I one have one too!!

Show and tell ...? Well sort of!

My 1950's fitted Cardigan still isn't quite finished, (as you can see), but I've been promising pictures for weeks now and felt like I should! She looks a lot better on, but I'm sure she looks even better finished!! Damn you small needles!

I just popped into my local charity shop and found these cones of lambswool for 50p each!! B-A-R-G-A-I-N! I love charity :)

And finally I've started something before I've finished something, what a suprise!! I know, tusk!!, I thought I'd give the Gathered Pullover a go from Interwaeve Knits Winter 2007.
I thought a lovely deep purple would be nice, you can't really tell in the picture though :(

The only problem is ... I've NEVER done any kind of cable before, so if anybody has any words of wisdom before I start, it would be much appriciated!!

I relented ... Buttons it is!! Sorry Cherry, I tried both the Kilt pin and a belt, neither of which were very flatering on my frame, can't say the buttons are either really, but I like them a lot better now.

Even got all dresed up in the Cardi and went out to see Laura Veirs play in Oxford last night. She was great, very funny and seems to have a quilting fetish .. so she's all good in my book!!

Plus I have new "old" boots .. I know it's not a craft thing, but I need to show them off, sorry people!!

I bought them from America, and I beleive their around the Civil War Era, they fit me like a glove, their too cool for school ladies!! ;)

I only have the edging left to do on my 1950's fitted cardigan, so expect photos soon!

New things to show ... So I still haven't finished the 1950's fitted cardigan, damn those small needles, but the weather made me finish some chunkyer items before the delicate 1950's spring cardigan.

As a lot of people have done already, I decided to knit Drops Design "Eskimo" Jacket

I decided not to put any buttons on it, thought I'd go for a big kilt pin, something like that ... but then I wore it and decided to knit a chunky moss stitch belt for it. More picture when thats done.

Dad needed a new scarf so I saw this excellent fast and funky pattern by Vickie Howell and thought I'd give it a go :) Unfortunatley I didn't have a big enough crohet hook, or enough yarn, so I decided to alter the pattern. Then it turned into a neck warmer instead of a scarf, which was more what my pa wanted anyway, which was great!! Bonus :)

And here we have another creation to stop me from working on the one thing i REALLY want to get finished!!

A lovely little warm cardigan for DB's second cousin who was born just before Christmas. I've made it a wee bit on the large side so she can grow into it. It was all my own creation and it was all to use up some of my stash, I love it when a plan comes together!!!

Just before Christmas I bought some tags to sew into all the Christmas pressies I knitted (and then forgot to take pictures of before I wrapped them!) anyway .. I'm now determined to sew one of these tags in every creation I make.

The progress has been, what you might call .. painfully slow with my 1950's cardigan. I'm now just left with one sleeve, the edging and the yoke, JUST!!

Progress has been sooo slow .. I seem to have started and stopped around 4 or 5 different knits. Oh and Happy New Year to you all!! :)

I received lots of knitting books for Christmas which was mucho wonderful, but I believe this made it allot more difficult to set my mind on something to knit, too many choices you see.

I finally decided to go for something I've been meaning to knit for a long time now, and something not from one of my new books at all!! Whoops ;)

This is the pattern I've gone for, a nice fitted 1950's cardigan, with some left over wash and wear I had in a fetching mustard colour.
Here's my progress so far, back, and left front. It's taking a while because of the small needles ... but it's going OK.

In the meantime I got on with making a long over due needle bag. So I haven't been slaking .. honest gov!!

Happy Christmas Eve people!

Me and DB bought a real Christmas Tree last Saturday, like we normally do.

We'd both had colds but were wondering why we weren't getting any better, if anything i felt as if I was getting worse, then suddenly we both started to brake out with skin problems, which is when we realised we were allergic to our Christmas tree :( So yesterday out it went!!

We still had the stump of last years tree as DB had grown quite attached to it, so we popped the light's on it and now it's our unconventional Christmas tree :)

And lastly, I especially knitted a beautiful chunky Fuchsia Jumper to go with the 1970's patterned skirt i made the other day (pictures to follow) for Christmas day. Hope you all have a great one, especially all you with wonderful new arrivals.

So many things have been knitted .... so many Christmas presents. I'm hoping all will be happily or comedicly received, but you know what it's like when your knitting for mostly guys!!

So lots of things can't be shown as of yet, plus like the clumsy bumbling fool that I am, I dropped my camera whilst it's zoom was out, so I've fully knacked it, and I'm sure it's a little too late for father Christmas to get one time now!

On the other hand, I had a few left over creations that I thought I'd see if anyone else might like for Christmas, so I've popped them on eBay,

The wedding was beautiful ... Kenilworth Castle is a great setting for a beautiful occasion, if not a little too cold on December 1st!

I did regret the 3 inch (Beautiful wooden heels ... oh how I love you!) Seen as thought I'm one hell of a flat footed lady :) Everyone loved the Cardigan and I even got a business proposition from it, which was surprising, but very nice.

I finished the 'Long Coat with Chevron Lace' from Fitted Knits a good couple of weeks back, but I've been holding back the surprise because I didn't want anyone to see it before the wedding, but I couldn't wait any longer. It was such a great item to knit.

Materials used 9mm circular bamboo needles (I l-o-v-e bamboo needles)
Just over 200g of Marble chunky & just over 200g black dk, so altogether it was made for the bargain price of around £9 English pounds ... BARGAIN!!

I did a few alterations of the bust (because I don't have one) other than that it was such smooth sailing :)

Fitted Knits truly is a beautiful pattern bible!

Next on the agenda was to teach myself how to crochet .. the silly thing was I had never really ever thought to learn. I suppose I never thought of it as a hugely desirable skill ... I mean I had never really seen any patterns that had taken my fancy etc ... but then I started to buy Vogue's Knit.1 which has a great mix of knitting and crochet patterns in it, all of which are either drop dread beautiful or hugely quirky ... What is obviously me in a nut shell ... yeah right!! hehe ...

Anyway so I've started crocheting a market bag for my mum to use for her weekly shop to Tesco's ... Ban the plastic bag i say!! No photos as yet but I will share soon.

Other news ... I took the bull by the horns and produced this little chunky cardi, using all my own imagination (no pattern required!)

Lots of little projects on the go ... 2 Hats, 1 iPod cover, 1 Scarf and 1 Wrap which will all be Christmas presents. Watch this space people!!!

Hey friends ... A few life changing things have happened in the last month or so which made me buy this - My new 'old' car.

A 1979 Mini 1000. So the only logical thing to do next is to knit it something ... It's own blanket!! The flash made it look a little too green, but trust me it compliments it nicely ;)

The next thing to knit was many many booties for the many babies that are due in November. My best friends new baby, DB's Cousins new baby and my other friends new bride, new baby ... so i haven't finished all of them but I'm nearly there.

Tragically my family have lost someone recently and i haven't felt like writing anything, i have been knitting still as i have found it to be a great comfort, I'm knitting everything from booties for my friends new baby, to chunky winter cardigans. Pictures soon :)

I have managed to keep reading everyone's blogs, which has also kept me occupied. I really think that there's such a wealth of talented people out there, this also came to light as my DB's mother dragged me down to Ally Pally for the Kitting and Stitching show on Sunday. I loved practically everything, but in the end all i came away with was 2 sets of bamboo needles, a 500g ball of Acrylic wool and 2 metres of fabric to make skirts from.

I wish i had some pictures to show you, but i can't get my damn bluetooth to work on my phone (even an IT Technician can get it wrong sometime!!)

I've been knitting alot recently, I've got three projects on the go ... not something i normally do ( i try to keep focused on one thing at a time!) Anyway with my nan's birthday coming soon i dropped what i was previously knitting and started work on a lovely Autumn scarf for her.

You can't tell by the awful light and the crappy camera on my shitty mobile!! Sorry, I'm not bitter ;) BUT i knitted it in a hand spun dark heather coloured yarn, which should go nicely with my nan's lovely blonde hair. Finger's crossed she likes it!

I've been Crafting!

Whilst in California last November, i bought some scraps of material that i liked ... but never had any inspiration on what to do with them, until now. First we have a large purse big enough for notes, change, keys and cards.

Secondly this one will hold cards and change.

Lastly a wee little broach, not my colours but i think it's rather nice.

I believe I'll either be putting them on ebay or I'm thinking of Etsy ... not sure if i can being English (if you know otherwise please let me know!)
Also if anyone has any feedback on my creations it would be great to hear it. I know it's all very start off rough & ready stuff.

I ran out of wool for my 15 mm needles, boy your hands, wrists and arms don't half hurt when your done knitting a few rounds on those babies!!
This is the progress so far...

And the next item of clothing i have to show you is the hip-length jumper i've been working on, from a lovely little Sirdar Click pattern called '8954' beautiful name isn't it!! ;)

oooohhhh and i managed to get a copy of Interweave ..... oh my, now i know what every lovely person in blog land has been raving on about. It's great, I've got the wool and needles ready soon as i finished these lovely projects :)

As I do like a bargain ... my next project consists of Sirdar Bigga Wool x 6 balls (all for the bargin price of 59p per 100g ball!!!) and a pair of 15 mm needles.... I've done 12 rows and my hands are killing me!!! ;)

ohhh plus I got new glasses... you like?

Plus i have finished the back and the front of a lovely hip length 2-ply jumper, photos soon :)

My first post in nearly two months!!

Well ... I've been busy. My co-worker had a bad car accident and broke both her wrists so things have been hectic ... PLUS I've been in Russia!

Hey Y'all! So knitting is going great... half-term relaxing is another thing!! Never mind.

So I'm knitting 'Faye' by Kim Hargreaves from the Rowan Vintage Knits Magazine, from a while back. I found a copy of it in my local library to which i said out loud 'Bonus'!

I don't know what pattern it is or what it's called, but I'm following it and i like it! It took a few goes to begin with but hopefully you'll be able to see the details once it's all done, especially in the bright Red which I gotta tell ya, I'm a BIG fan of and I'm surprised that i haven't already knitted a ton of things with it ... anyway I digress.

So me and DB went up to the Yorkshire Sculpture park (it should have taken a little over 2 hours, it ended up taking something like over 3! I hate traffic on the M1!) anyway we went to check out the Andy Goldsworthy exhibition, and it was pretty great. Unfortunately you weren't allowed to take photos :( But then again the sweat lodge piece was soooo good I think I'll be remembering it in the old brain box for years to come.

Introducing .... not so 2 Tone Shrug!

2 Tone Shrug (except i did it with just the one and I think it looks just as good! Just a little over 100g's at £1.15 a ball!! How awesome am I?) from Fitted Knits, it really has been a revolution in my knitting I rate that book big time highly ... i know this is not real English, but sometimes things are that good that real English just can't explain baby!!

Myself and my DB had a couple days off so we decided to go down to Bath and stay the night. It really is a beautiful place. Obviously I took some knitting with me too (I just couldn't help slipping it into our bag)

Anyway I found some beautiful cheap acyclic wool in a deep deep purple and thought "I'm gonna make a pattern up as i go along, damn it!" So this is what I'm doing. It's a cardigan, as i feel more flexible in one, I know it would be simpler to do a jumper but i know i won't wear it as much!

I've put a chunky hem on the bottom and did a nice bit of raglan shaping on the back. Fingers crossed it goes OK.

So yesterday we got up and though seen as though we were in Bath we would take a trip down to Glastonbury Abbey.

And I'm done ... I actually finished this Friday night but I've been too lazy to be bothered with much hehe, that's what holidays are for, right?

It was a real joy to re-knit this and hopefully I'll be more careful when i come to washing it this time. The first one of this Sirdar Click pattern I knitted was for work and it served me well up until that ghastly day when i ruined it, anyway ... i think I'm gonna be keeping this one for myself :)

I've got a load of chunky wool left over from this project and a number of others, so i thought I'd put it to good use. Last night i knitted these squares to make a rug.

Now I'm sure most of you blogger's have done this at some point, but it is a great way to use up your stash (making more room for more stash) it's all cleverly planed you see!

Progress is swift on my re-knitted Sirdar Click Chunky Cardigan!

I love the colour and because I've knitted this pattern before it's knitting up a treat. I think I'm going to do the collar a little differently, instead of p2, k2 i thought I'd do moss stitch. Mixing it up a little :)

And finally, yeay to Easter holidays!! A break at least!

huumm, I'm not too sure about this pattern and I'm finding it difficult not to go start something else on the needles!! What to do?

As you can see I've made a mistake with the shaping ( crudely pointed out by using 'Paint' hehe)

I just haven't got the desire to fix it, so has the love gone out of this project? I think so? Answers on a postcard to ..... ;)

I've been making lots of knitting and after care mistakes recently. I completely ruined my Sirdar Click cardigan that i did at Christmas, purely by forgetting it was in the washing machine before i set it to tumble dry!

Thankfully though i have bought new wool for that and I'm eager to re-knit it, this time in a deep Burgundy. Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention, or maybe I'm losing my knitting powers? Time will only tell

Dawn is going well (from the Rowan Kasbah Collection). I'm knitting it on circular needles for comfort reasons, my straight size 5mm's are too long for sitting in front of the TV and knitting! Hehe.

On another subject completely:

Since the end of December our kitchen has been a mess, we bought a new washing machine and it leaked everywhere, it just dumped water everywhere. Since this time we have spent numerous months waiting for curry's to give us some money to fix our floor (the floor got warped and then started to rot.) Finally over the last couple of weekends, me, my DB and his best friend made the kitchen go form this -

This weekend has seemed strange because we haven't had to do anything with the kitchen, we have had to keep pinching ourselves!

I'm surprised i managed to get any knitting done at all during that ordeal. Well... finally it's done and we are so totally chuffed with it. Thank you to Ben for all his help!

Here is the much altered Grace on me -

As per usual it was taken around 10 o'clock at night, so the lights rubbish. I never remember to take photos when it's light, i think this is because I'm generally trying to do whatever i can to use the light when it's around!

Anyway next on the needles -

This patterns from the Rowan Kasbah Collection book. This will be in a dark denim blue, 100% Acrylic yarn. I tried making all sorts of Jumpers and cardys with this wool, but i always find i use it for not very interesting projects and then never end up finishing them. I will knit this for work, I like to mix it up at work ... keep them guessing what I'm going to wear next!

I've just ordered the Debbie Bliss Rialto book -

The pattern that I'll have a go at will be this beauty - This will be purely for recreational use :)

Grace Progress

Here's a pic of my progress on Grace. Obviously the photo shows it inside out, mainly because i didn't want to get pricked by any pins!

It's a great pattern to knit real easy with a little added interest in the shaping.

From now on though I'm going to call it my Twin Peaks Woolly Tee ... to cut a long story, not SO long ... My DB and his friend were talking about Twin Peaks as they enjoy David Lynch. I said that i had never seen it so DB went out and got it and I've totally been sucked it, it's really cheesy funny and incredibly twisted, so I've been knitting Grace whilst watching Twin Peaks.

So check this out! I'm a massive geek and i work in IT!

Thanks Kendra for reminding me that my own 1 year blogversary has been and gone. February was the official date but with one thing another i totally forgot!

It's been really therapeutic doing this blog, it also spures me on to knit many many things. I do feel from time to time that nobodies reading this and it's purely just self indulgence, but on the odd chance someone does read this, thank you and I'll hopefully continue on for another years blogversary. Yeah I'm not very good at knitting on circular needles! he he

There's a great pattern form my Dominknitrix book but I've knitting and re-knitted 4 or 5 times and i still can't understand the pattern.
I know i want to do it, and i know i want to challenge myself ... but i simply just don't understand the pattern.

... so I've decided to take on a similar project on circular needles that's not as complicated. I've chosen Grace from Knitty.com (Oh we do love knitty!) I've got a couple of balls of wool left over from Holly, so if it doesn't go well i won't be out of pocket.

I will post photos as soon as it starts to grow.

I do believe that Holly was been one of the longest knitting projects i have undertaken, and not for want of trying, but at least my hand is feeling better and i have managed to finish it.

Still no knitting for me, I've got a wee bit of tendinitis. So I've been reading knitting books to get my fix instead!

My and my DB had a nice trip to Cambridge last Saturday and i found this book in the excellent Heffer's there.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes a little quirkiness to there knitting. There's only a couple of patterns I'll knit but it's got some great helpful hints on how to "whip your knitting into shape!"

Holly had been going great guns (i'd only got half a sleeve and the collar left to do.) ... THEN about 4 days ago i woke up and my wrist was real bad.

Holly is coming along nicely, the wool's still great to knit with (£1.15 for a 100g ball, can't beat it!) I wanted to knit a practical jumper that i could wear again and again and to be honest i haven't had much luck with expensive wools, in my experience they have tended to be too difficult to maintain, so ... if i ruin Holly, then it won't be too much of a loss, it you see what i mean?!

I always have to say sorry for the photos, I ALWAYS forget to take photos in the daytime so they always turn out rubbish. Plus this flat has the worst light. Anyway ...

Hot Fuzz is out today, me and my DB have bought advance screening tickets WOOHOO! It's gonna be too funny.

Snowing everywhere

As most people know or experienced yesterday in England, it snowed a lot!! Here's a pic of the church i pass on my way to work, it just looked so lovely and only a few people had walked that way so it was still relatively unspoilt.

I have been tagged!! Uh oh … So here’s a list of five things that I haven’t revealed about myself on my blog (I think!)

I have a HND in Music Production.
I’ve been playing the Drums on and off for about 7 years now.
I secretly would love to a singer-songwriter, but I don’t think that’ll happen any time soon.
I did a Tour of Germany when I was 17 with 5/6 other bands (we got robbed, the sunroof of the coach got snapped off and went into on-coming traffic on the autobahn, the tour manager quit half way through and then the coach company tried to sue us when we got back to England.)
Me and my DB go to the cinema nearly every weekend (you can’t beat a good film!)

So there we go a few things about me that I don’t think I’ve mentioned before. I don’t think I can tag 5 other people, I know I love looking at other peoples blogs, but I only know of two people who read mine and Kendra’s already been tagged 2/3 times?! So I tag Nat! (Go on Nat revel all hehehe)

I couldn’t have done the influential books from my childhood, firstly because I don’t remember and secondly I had real trouble with my reading up until my late teens, so I really didn’t start reading until then.

My new tunic jumper from My Fashionable Life is coming on in leaps and bounds. It’s very very nice. Pictures will be coming either tomorrow or Friday ladies.

It's finished, it doesn't have any sleeves because i just couldn't get them to work with the small amount of wool i had left. So it will just be a back and shoulder warmer for now, maybe some spring-time use.

And now on to the next project ... ohh it's a good-un.

Thank you to My Fashionable Life for this wonderful free pattern. I went and bought some lovely cheap wool (you can't beat it!) in a sage/mossy green colour. I cast on and did the first 7 rows and had know idea that the pattern involved a hem, ohh it was soooo much fun learning a new trick. So fingers crossed i will happily be knitting away for a good couple weeks (or not at the rate i'm going!)

So progress has been slow for the bolero, mainly due to the fact that i'm finding it difficult to find any matching wool. I totally calculated it wrong, and now i'm down 100g.

I'm doing this whilst watching The Daily Show ... and finding it very difficult to keep focused, it's too funny.

Anyway "What you been up to?" I hear you say .. we'll a few things . I'm still working on my Winter warmer jumper, i really should get a move on (as now is the time i'll need it the most before the weather changes and gets warm again.)

Also i knitted (and broke two needles in the process) a little bear for my friends little girls 1st Birthday. I've never knitted anything other than clothing, plus as you all know i've totally given up on the sock making front. So when i suggested to myself knitting a little bear on 4 needles, i was quite shocked!

It's not great, but i really wanted to make something for her. Here's to Evies 1st Birthday!!

And last of all THE cutest bolero from Knit.1 magazine.

I'm really enjoying knitting it, but i think that i've underestimated how much wool i needed. So i may have to fine a contrasting colour for the sleeves. You knit the body first horizontally. It's great.

Busy busy fingers

Lots of things are being created at the moment. A certain lovely lady is turning 1 at the end of January so i'm knitting her something speical. I can't show it to you guys becuase i don't want her mother to see it before she does!

I'm still knitting a winter wonder jumper, inbetween knitting an aswome cupid bolero from the Vouge Knit.1 magazine which, if you can get it, is totally worth the £3.50 price tag. It generally has about 30 free patterns every quarter. I'll try scanning in the pattern i'm following. It's really satisfying. I even bought a pair of bamboo needle especially for it. In the years that i have been knitting i can honestly say i've only ever bought 3 pairs of needle from new, all of my needles are either from my mum or nan (and perhaps the odd charity shop!) It felt good to splurg :)

So .... I have purchased a new knitting chair, it's the smoothest thing since, well, its the best chair i've ever had.
I've been getting really bad knitters shoulder, so i thought the only way i could resolve this, without stopping knitting would be to get a comfy high backed chair. Good ol' Ikea.

As for my alpaca Cardigan, it's finished, it's pretty nice if i do say so myself. Lets just hope they'll be an occasion for me to where it to soon.

And now on to the next project!! Another big wooly jumper me thinks! And heres one i made earlier ;)

New Year, New Projects

Hello, i trust everyone had a good new year? We had a rather excellent night in re-watching The Mighty Boosh Live (Ah it was like being in the Warick Arts Centre all over again!!)

I've just been carrying on with the occational cardigan with the Peru wool i recieved for christmas.

Just one sleeve left to go, and i thought i'd leave the unvailling for another time.

Instead though i bring you the Sirdar Click Cardigan i knitted before Xmas.

I trust you all had good christmases!? Unfortunatley my DB got food poisioning on Boxing day so that just about sums up our christmas. :)

Anyway i have been busy, DB bought me some brilliant wool (Alpaca) and i've been knitting it up with some speed, it's sooo lovely. I'm making a really lovely cardy with it. I would call it more of an occasional cardigan. I think it's gonna be good.

I have also finished the Sirdar Cardigan which is ok, not great but it will serve a purpose, mainly warmth. I had some wool left over from it so i knitted two hats, 1 for me and 1 for my mum. Heres a pic of my mums.

Progress Ladies, progress

The lace scarf is finished, bloked and about to be wrapped up as a christmas present to my DB's Mother. I really hope she'll like it, it took a lot of effort compared to anything else i've knitted before. I didn't manage to get a photo lastnight, (poor quality light) but i'll try to post one up either tonight or tomorrow.

The Sirdar Cardigan is going great too, the back, both fronts and 1 and a 1/2 sleeves are done, just the other half a sleeve and the front ribbing left to do. It's gonna be super soft and with only 500grams of wool, it's only cost £5.70!! I love it when a plan comes together :)

I thought i was so organised for christmas, we bought a DVD Recorder for my mum and dad ( i really wanted to get something special and useful for them.) Until my brother goes and gives them one before we do!!! My brother never gets ANYTHING for them, i can't even remember that last time he did, and the 1 year i can actually afford to give them something nice he bloody spoils it!! So now i've only got today left to get something for them instead! Nevermind.
Hope everyone's not too stressed out at the moment and that you can all enjoy the run up to christmas :)

evreythings running smoothly

So the lace scarf is going great, i'm so proud of myself for giving it a go, maybe i'm just too worried that i'm going to get things wrong, so i figure that i might as well not try ... but now i think that because i've taken the time to sit down and persevere, it has made me more adventerous and happy to take on more challenging patterns. Big smiles all round!!

I will post a picture of the scarf when it's finished, i've only got maybe 6 or 7 more repeats to do. Watch this page.

In the meantime here is a winter cardy that i've stated work on, for when i'm too tired to concentrate on the lace i can just get carried away with this without having to think (too much anyway!)
The pattern is for Sirdar Click, but i'm using the same weight in a cheaper acrylic instead, in a chocolate brown colour.

And here's how i'm progressing. I have the back, and both front parts finished. Just the sleeves and the edging left to do. It has come up quite short, but it will be a changed from all my long cardy's.

I too can knit lace, who would of thunked it?!

ARRRGGGHHHHHH! So i'd managed to finish the body of the jacket ... i tried it on and thought "huummm this seems a little large, but i'll go with it, maybe i can make a belt for it!" THEN i made a sleeve and it was just the worst looking thing ever, so i ripped it up and here is a picture of what is left!!

Oh god it looked bad! Its the second thing in a row that i've knitted that's gone wrong. I don't suppose it helps when i'm following a pattern that was made in the 70s! I was going for the retro look. I think i'll stick to something a wee bit more modern next time.

I think my next project is going to be a simple lace scarf .... ( I know Nat, i think something must be wrong with me ... i'm stepping out of my saftey zone!) I'd like to wear it at work to keep my shoulders and neck nice and warm. Fingers crossed it works out ok, i've never done lace before! ;)

Recently when there has been some decorating to do in the flat, then both me and my DB have taken part in it, but this time i've either too busy or too ill ( a recent bout of migranes) has left me unable to help out, so a HUGHED thank you goes out to him for doing such a good job. Heres a little picture of the jacket i'm working on

I bought the blue chunky wool from ebay, but in real life it turned out to be a little too baby blue form me... so i thought 'What goes well with blue? RED!' of which i already had, which was a bonus!

I'm knitting the whole body as one piece, then the sleeves just fit into place. I'm either going to fix it with jumbo poppers OR clasps.

So i've been knitting away, but unfortunatley i can't show you either of the two projects i've finished .... as i said before, because of christmas gift reasons!! It feels quit frustrating.

Does anyone have a favourite place on-line to buy inexpensive wool? I'm trying to make a new knitted jacket (cuz the other one didn't turn out so good,) so i need quite a large quantity of wool and i'm not sure where to get it from!? Thanks guys :)

New projects means a new basket

Here we are, a lovely new basket for my new projects, that fits nicley under the coffee table. Before all i did was either leave my knitting in the sides of the sofa ... or i left it on the table. Tutt tutt i hear you say!
So no more untidy José, no way .... ;)

New projects

I've got a few ideas in my head, so i thought i might as well get on with them!!

1. New blue jumper for work. (it's so difficult to dress for my job, mainly becuase i'm in and out of either boiling hot rooms or rooms with crazy cold air-con AND the fact that there are 7 different sites!!! So when it rains i have to take an umbrella with me, just to go fix and printer.)

2. My old winter coat. (It's gone abit bobberly, and dull.) So i thought i could de-bobble and but some new bottons on it!

3. I bought loads of squares of fabric from America from the Gold Rush town, so some really nice old fashioned patterns. Then i went to my local fabric shop and bought some more squares that are a similar vain, so the plan is to make a quilt. Thats the plan ;)

4. Various Xmas Pressies (A hat, some socks and maybe a scarf.)

So i better crack on!!

Firstly i have started the jumper, same pattern as my green one from a couple months ago, but with a moss stich edging :)

Hello lovely people.
California was great, San Francisco is HUGE and the countryside is beautiful.

We saw Alcatraz, Muir Woods (Californian Redwoods), Haight Ashbury, Golden Gate Bridge, The Place of Fine Arts and my personal favourite .. the Gold Rush town of Columbia :) Phew

It is complete and i'm fairly happy with it. I think it needs a wash and a rest and hopfully it will settle down and feel a little better on. On the other hand, it is soft and warm, which is what i was after.

The back was started and finished on Saturday, both sides were started and finished on Sunday. I started 1 of the sleeves Monday eve and finished it lastnight. Just 1 sleeve and the collar left to do. Personally i think most of you lovely ladies were right...., i'll deffinatley have it finished in time :)

The Wool is Sirdar Nova Super Chunky 50% wool, 50% Acrylic. It knits up real well, and it's a little mohairy(ish). I think it might go quite bobbely quite quickly, which is a shame, but fingers crossed. Does anyone have a tip for bobble removel? :)

Look what my first pay cheque bought me today .... ah finally a guitar with a beautiful sound that won't crush my boob!!! Tis a wonderful thing :)

Ok on a knitting note, i've put the girly work cardy down for a few weeks. Me and my DB are off on a trip of a life time in a couple of weeks (San Francisco here we come!!!), and i'd really like to take a jackety/autum cardy thing with me, so i've found a pattern and i've given myself 2 weeks to complete..... The Left front has gone horribly wrong. It's the patterns fault, it said start decreasing on the WS but it should have said RS. Bugger. Then I read the pattern wrong and had to rip a load of it up and start most of it again, (i am too lazy to start the whole thing though) ... pattern-1, josé-1 ;)

New Project

He we go, a new project has been started and it's going nicely :) so far anyway. I wanted to make something remotely lady-like for work, so i came up with this one. I already had this beautiful denium/midnight blue coloured yarn, 50% wool no less!! ;) It's knitting up real nice, but that is beacuse i'm using 5mm needles and knitting in rev st st.

Can you Adam and Eve it!!

I have pictures, but they won't be around until later tonight. But it's good, i like it muchly. The only problem with it is that i ran out of wool.

The pattern specifically said 150g for a size small-med, my tention was fine and i used the correct needle size and weight of wool, BUT i bought the orginal wool off ebay and i couldn't find anything remoutly the same from any of my local wool shops .... so i used a colour that co-ordinated ... i think!! So now i have a mainly mink coloured tank-top with 1 grey cap sleeve!!! BUM HOLE ;)

Now it's time to start something alittle more adventurous!

Things have been soo busy at work that i really haven't had the chance to knit!!!! I like the job, but i don't want it to start taking over, i especially don't want it to take over my knitting obsession.

I have had a few goes at finishing the first side of the Rowan tank-top. Which is coming along nicely. But it's taking such a long time, becuase i have only maybe an hour to knit a night. I want more!! I'm used to more!!! Nevermind.

the slow sound of progress

So I've started my new job, this is ... i believe the reason why i a) haven't posted in a while and b) been soooooo amazingly exhausted! That is my conclusion. BUT

I have managed to finish the chunky warm using all my stash jumper, and i do believe it's one of the only real things that i've knitting that i'm 100% happy with! I really am. Pictures are coming i promise.

The Chuncky warm jumper that i was knitting to use up my stash, ground to a holt on Tuesday when i realised that said stash had run out! Luckily i found a suitable grey in a local cheapy shop and 'hopefully' bought enough to finish it off ... fingers crossed :)

BUT becuase this happened i thoguth i may aswell start a new project, you know, just cast on and do a few rows before i find more wool to finish the chunky stash jumper.
So I cast on and carried on knitting and before i knew it i'd done all this of the Horizontal Rowan Tank top. I don't tink it's going too badly :)

This is what i call the 'Big winter warm jumper, that makes use of all my left over chunky wool' ... Catchy ain't it! ;)
The strips were going to match on both sides (as they should) but i'm running out of stash, who knows what the sleeves will look like!

I've been knitting it in the evening over the past two nights, whilst me and DB relax after painting nearly everything in sight in the flat (the pic shows the blue and putty colours we've put in the hall way, forget the carpet thats going soon, thank god!). Sooo tired, all i can muster is a crazy big and baggy jumper.

Blumin dye!

So the dye did not work! The thing that bugs me is that
A) I dye things all the time and
B) All the conditions were right!
It came out purple and then dried a boring baby blue! Don't understand, anyway the only other options now is to go for full on Navy or Black, becuase of how patchy it was too... nevermind, just breath and relax :)

Here is an up date of my roll-neck ... what a flattering photo!! I was trying to stand just in the right position so as to NOT get stabbed by any pins :)

So I've finished the back, front and 1 sleeve, just the aother sleeve and the roll-neck left to do! All i can say is ... please hurry up!

As i'm still feeling bogged down by my roll-neck jumper and jaywalkers i thought i'd share with you all what i plan on knitting next from my new Rowan Mag :)

First - This will work well for my new job

Second - Something to cosy up in for autum :)

I'm looking for wool as i type right now for these babies!

Today though I'm gonna take a break from knitting and do some dying, i made a great A-line skirt with my new sewing machine. I was in a charity shop and found some great cream material, loads of it, all for £1.50, but i'm no cream girl so i'm dying it a nice dark blue-ish colour. Fingers crossed all goes well.

I've been knitting lots, but still no progress to report on! Maybe some photos tomorrow or the day after ... maybe :)

I did go for a VERY long walk today and found a wee little wool shop, that was stuffed to the brime with all sorts of new and old wool, i thought i'd take the oportunity to buy this Rowan Magazine No.36

I've always wanted it, but until i saw it in the flesh ... well, i couldn't stop myself from buying it (even if i'm on a TIGHT budget).

So hopefully new creations coming this way soon.

Problems ... once again!

So my jumper has been giving me some problems, therefore i've had to give it my full attention, instead of doing it and the jaywalkers at the same time. ALSO inbetween these two projects I have also recieved my early birthday present ( a sewing machine!! Soo happy) intrun i decided it would be a good idea to have a break and make this apron, the fabrics VERY old fashioned, but it was only 50p!

Now i'm ready to cook in style!

The problem with the jumper is that the sizing i estimated for the roll neck is far too small, so i've had to undo and re-knit alot of it! Hopefully it will be ok? Not too sure yet. I am now on the sleeves, so if i get bored i can dable with the jaywalker heel! :)

In the year that i've been knitting i don't think i've ever made my fingers sore, but that maybe becuase i've never knitted so frantically before. With my new roll-neck jumper taking forever, and my jaywalkers not seeming to get anywhere fast ... i'm just knitting, knitting, knitting and the progess just seems to be getting slower.
I'm out to see my folks today, so knitting will not be done, it feels like a waste. I'm at that point where i really feel like i'm wasting valuable knitting time if i'm doing anything other than knitting!! Does that make sense? hehe maybe/maybe not

Anyway here's my sore finger and a pic of the progress of my jaywalker (The only problem now with my jaywalker; ITS NOW TOO BIG!) Bumhole!

I've had a seriously foody weekend! I do loooove my food. So feeling as if it's time to get out and have a walk somewhere, but as i'm newish to the area, i'm not too sure where to go! I have been thinking of just walking around the wool shops here in Leamington, but there very posh yarn shops with equally posh prices ... maybe i'll go window shopping anyway.

Also just to prove that men never grow up ... i went to DB's best freinds birthday celebrations yesturday, as you can tell all the boys had great fun, whilst I got stuck in a concrete maze! :(

I did consider knitting in the sunshine whilst they played ... but it was too funny to resist!

My roll-neck jumper seems to be taking forever still, even though it's an easy peasy pattern, it just seems to be taking it's time! But here are some pic's of the back -

After going great guns with the jaywalkers .... things have taken a wrong turn somewhere and now it doesn't fit and i can't understand the rest of the pattern.

Who knows what i'm going to do now with it!?
I was going to carry on with it anyway and use it as a guide, but because i don't get the rest of what the patterns telling me to do ... oooh i'm just not sure!

As for the roll-neck it's getting there slowly. I am using a pattern, but its supposed to be for 11-12 year old girl so i'm just making it fit as i go along. :)

I'll be off to ponder the pattern for the 100th time then! :)

Rool neck jumpers ... keeping the nation warm in summer ?

Hey hey,

So, i've been knitting night and day and i only seem to have finished this much -
But it's beautiful wool, i spent £3.20 on each 100g ball, but it's a 50/50 mix of acrylic and wool. It's the most i've ever spent on a single ball, this is mainly because i buy cheap syntheic's, having a bank balance of ZERO and all! :) This time though i thought i'd treat myself, seen as though it will be for my new job and i have to look smart etc ..

I've started work on my jaywalkers 3 times already! But i've never made socks before and hardy ever touch a 'pattern' if i can help it (like i say, i just get confused by the wording!) Hopefully pictures soon.

There was a thunder storm this morning, it's 11:12am now and the grounds already dry!! Crazy stuff :)

It feels like weeks since my last post .. well here I am.

Good news, finished my green bolero as pictured here - it's a little tight on the arms, but as long as nobody’s says anything, then I’m not telling!! ;)

I went to Coventry on Saturday and bought a delicious sewing book, just getting all my patterns ready for when I receive my new sewing machine for my birthday. I'm gonna make the pinny first, just so I can look more professional when I’m baking my DB his diabetic muffins.

Next on the agenda ... jaywalkers (when will I ever finish them!?) and now my new project of a really boring but beautiful roll-neck jumper for my new job!! Pictures will follow I promise.

I also wanted to share with everyone what I’m reading at the moment. I've never been a big reader, but I do love getting lost in one from time to time.
I bought this book about Lester Bangs (more info here) maybe 4 years ago or more ... anyway, since the move I found it again and am loving it!! He was simply a music appreciating genius.

Also my DB has got me ready Watchman, which is awesome. From time to time I have been known to read the odd comic book, but this goes beyond just a comic!! I met Alan Moore (more info) in a pub in Northampton a couple of years ago. Very interesting and strange individual, just the way I like um!! ;)

I have always had trouble with sock patterns, it's like talking to someone from the Council about TAX, it totally should make sense, but it really really dosen't!

UNTIL now

My wonderful friend Moucherons Tricote sent me the best sock tutorial (with pictures an all!) So I just want to say, thank you again to Nat.

So socks will be heading there way to this blog sometime soon. I would've started them already if i wasn't moving tomorrow, and in this heat and my tooth infection (yes, my gums gone bad!) you know how it is! Panic!

Here's hoping they'll be a storm later tonight ;)

Sorry ... a non knitting post

Lets start with dentists ... sometimes I really don't believe that they've got your best interests at heart (even though they tell you they do,) I went back for my check up to see how my root canal was doing ... and the next thing I know i've had 4 injections and he's using a pair of pliers to pull my tooth out!! It hurts like i've never known pain to hurt - I know I said that about the root canal, but this time its a real doozy!
The dentist also said "No false tooth for you young lady!" to which my reply was ... "WHAT!" So i'm left with a really big hole, that won't stop bleeding, i truley do feel like i've been in a fight ....

BUT

I managed to get a job with 1 week left of this one to go, so i'm very very very very pleased. So me and my DB celebrated by decorating the flat we'll be sharing in a matter of days. Here's a pic of the colour we choose. Hazelnut chruch it's called -

Not that you guys can tell, but it really changes the whole dynamic of the bedroom. We're real happy with it.

So with all this, i have managed to do zero knitting even though i've only got the sleeve left to do on my bolero! Nevermind, theres always tonight and tomorrow .... Try and keep cool in this crazy heat!

Feeling ill in the summer time

Don't you just hate it when you get a cold in the summer? I always seem to be ill (especially working with kids!) Nevermind ...

So i've had some time on my hands to do a bit more knitting, inbetween all the sleep i've been trying to catch up with. So now i've finished a sleeve and should have the next one done before the weekend ... finger crossed!

Also ... saw Superman Returns at the weekend .... it turned out to be pretty bloddy good, i was plesently supprised (after all this time, after loads of different scripts, after 50 different dudes being asked to direct it... it was worth the wait!)

So I thought I would just show you all my knitting so far ... I just need to finish the ribbing on the left hand side, then decide whether or not to bother with sleeves. It's knitted up MUCH smaller than was intended, but nevermind :)

I've got quite a few patterns ready to take over from this one, but i just can't seem to motivate myself. I'm spending too much time reading everyone else's blogs to either -

a. Finish my knitting
b. Type up a new blog entry of my own
and finally ..
c. Motivate myself into looking for not just that elusive 'perfect job'!

I think you all know what i mean.

All i wanted to say was, i bought this book on saturday and it rules!! If any of you aren't that great at sewing, but really love using your imagination and making your own cloths ... take a little look at this book if you can!

Dressing up's soo much fun

No knitting today, but lots of dressing up!!

The school organised an evacuee day at a local Manor House, Holdenby Hose to be presise. It was a really great day, they went down in a air raid shelter with a 'Major', cooked vegetable pie with a 'house wife' and were taught to make do and mend cloths with a snooty 'school teacher'. All the teachers and teaching assistants dressed up as Land Army Girls, but not me ... i went as a mechanic from the WAAF. I think the other women were annoyed that i didn't join in there land Army game, but nevermind. I enjoyed it :)

The first picuture is of me in the morning. I curled my hair and pined it, but my hairs soo long that it was difficult to do much!

Second pic is of me, Lilly and another TA, Mrs Beaven.

And lastly is a pic of Jason and his paper gas mask! :)

All the kids seem to enjoy themselves and even sang some old songs on the coach back to school (believe me when i say, thats THE most interested i've seen them be all year!)
